What Will Your New Year's Resolutions Be?
Posted by
onWe’re quickly approaching 2023, and the new year is an opportunity for a fresh start for many people or a time to set new goals in your life. Whether you’re new to spending time in the backcountry or are wanting to challenge yourself with more difficult treks this year, we’ve got some tips for setting goals for yourself in 2023.
Beginner
If you’re just starting out, it can be overwhelming to decide where you want to go first. When it comes to planning your trips, we recommend staying close to home (if you’re able to) and starting with day trips. Taking day trips allows you to see what you might be missing in your pack, or what might make your trips easier in the future.
Intermediate
If you’re at a point where you’ve gone on overnight trips into the backcountry and you’re looking for some more challenging hikes, you could plan a trip to a national park, instead of sticking to trails that are closer to you. National parks offer a variety of trail options for you to choose from, allowing you to challenge yourself for your next hike.
Advanced
If you’ve been hiking for a while and want to take your hiking experience to the next level, we’d suggest trying a thru-hike trip if you haven’t done one yet! This way, you’re able to experience a whole trail and more of a park than you might have in the past.
