You’ve upgraded to a wood burning backpacking stove and you’re ready to head out on your next adventure. Every backpacking stove fits differently in your pack due to size and shape, and this isn’t any different. But don’t worry, to make sure you have the best experience with your wood burning camp stove, we have a few tricks for packing your stove, while saving space and keeping your pack organized.

Stove Pouch

The Littlbug stoves break down into individual pieces, making sure it takes up as little space as possible, while staying lightweight and easy to assemble. To help keep your stove pieces organized while in your pack, store your stove in a large gallon zip lock bag.

You can also use Littlbug’s Stove Pouch, which has sizes made to fit each of the Littlbug stoves and their accessories, including the fire bowls and pot sling. A stove pouch also helps protect your backpack and other gear from the residue that can build up on the stove when you use natural fuel like sticks, twigs, and leaves.

Saving Space

The natural curve and flexibility of the Littlbug stove makes it easy to fit the stove into your pack in different ways. To save space in your backpack, roll your ultralight backpacking stove around or with another item in your pack. Littlbug stoves roll up nicely with a sleeping pad. You can also wrap the stove into a lightweight comforter, if you enjoy packing a little extra warmth.

You can also slide the stove around a cooking pot. Littlbug stick stoves hug snuggly around pots, not taking up valuable space in your pack.  Most of the backpackers I know use the inside of the pot to store miscellaneous items like a lighter or matches, headlamps, or other small items. Keeping these smaller pieces of gear inside the pot helps you stay organized while on the trail.  Some stoves like the Solo stove recommend carrying their stove inside a specific size pot.  Since the fire box (the only place you could try to stuff small items) of the Solo stove is tiny, you will have to find additional space in your pack for the items you would normally keep in your pot. 

Use the Exterior Space

Another benefit of the the Littlbug Stove Pouch is that it features an exterior fabric loop that you can use to secure to the outside of your pack with a carabiner or string. The pouch’s durable fabric allows you not to worry about it tearing if it snags on branches or gets caught on things while in the wilderness.

Saving the Best for Last

Save your stove to be packed last. Once the rest of your gear is packed, place the Littlbug stove on the top. The natural curve of the stove allows it to wrap around your gear and the sides of the stove slide into the front and back of your backpack. When you secure the pack shut, the stove will fit snugly next to the flap and your gear.
