Littlbug Junior Stove

$68.95

What’s one of the first things I grab when it’s time pack for a multi-day backpacking excursion? My scale, of course. I’ve always had a specific weight limit I stay under every time, and I won’t go an ounce over. Not negotiable. Maybe I’m a little stubborn, but I’d like to think my passion for keeping my hiking weight in check will spill over into being detail-oriented on the trail as well. The better I plan and the more meticulous I am, the more enjoyable the trip seems to be. It’s amazing that my Littlbug Junior Stove never has to make me think twice. Can you believe it? I have a small camp stove that can give me hours of natural wood-burning firepower… and it weighs 5.1 ounces! It will burn alcohol, too.

I was always taught that part of the secret to packing efficiently is to not waste any space. The Littlbug Junior Stove is designed to fit INSIDE a rolled up sleeping pad. Whether I’m visiting a State Park, or exploring the wilderness, the Littlbug Junior Stove provides plenty of warmth and capacity to get me through the journey.

The Littlbug Junior Stove is our smallest and lightest stove. The stove is constructed with durable stainless steel, burns wood or alcohol, provides a stable and versatile cooking platform and is uniquely designed to wrap around a sleeping pad for easy storage and transport. Works with most commercially available alcohol burners (burner not included). Storage pouch available (see related products below).

Littlbug beats the competition! The Littlbug Junior Stove topped all other entries in a head to head field test of 11 small, wood and alcohol burning camp stoves conducted by BackPackingLight. (click on the BackPackingLight logo to view the results)

  1. One of the very best lightweight envirornmentally sound stoves 5 Star Review

Posted by on Jan 11th 2023

From the standpoint of utilizing free abundant fuel found almost everywhere in the outdoors this little stove checks all the boxes. Add to this it is lightweight, elegantly simple and bullet-proof reliable. This little stove has, for me, replaced all the many other stoves I've tried over the decades when I'm outdoors spring through fall by myself or with a partner. In winter I find the Littlbug Senior to be my main tool for heat and cooking unless I'm in my tent with a stove inside. The Senior version has also proven, at least to me, to cover all the bases for year-round use with only a little more weight and size. The clincher is the fact that this is an authentic American product and there is a real person (with honest integrity) behind it.

If this sounds like a paid shill ad, trust me, it is not. It's just the reaction of a regular warm blooded human being who is absolutely delighted to find a product in today's market place that actually does what it claims to do, an increasingly rare thing in my experience.

  2. Light durable fast 5 Star Review

Posted by on Nov 5th 2022

I purchased a littlebug Jr in late February just as my hiking miles started to ramp up.

Since then it has traveled just under 200 miles in my daypack, and has been used dozens of times. Usually to heat water for a trail break cup of coffee, but also for mashed potatoes, soups, baked beans, simmering veggies or chilli, and lots of oatmeal.

I have carried it wrapped in a sleeping pad (best), nested around a hammock tarp stuff sack (second best), loosely squished around a tea kettle (not great but worked), and tucked down the side of my pack (fine). In most cases I don't have to think about it, it is something that comes along on every walk.

Setting up is fast. I usually use it with a trangia stove, and have the little bug assembled in about the time it takes the stove to prime.

Using it as a twig stove works too, but I am spoiled by the zero clean up of the alcohol burner.

This set up is taking the place of a heavier, bulkier MSR whisperlite 600 from the mid 90s that always had me worried I was going to set myself or half the forest on fire. With the MSR forget about simmering it is like cooking on a blowtorch.

The littlebug and trangia set up can keep a pot of Chilli hot but not scorching the bottom for as long as we need to round the kids up for dinner.

So far I have not felt the need for the larger model, but could see it if I was with a larger group.

Overall this is one of the things in my kit that just makes me happy to have with me, it is hard to explain why.

  3. A Keeper 5 Star Review

Posted by on May 3rd 2022

I bought one years ago when an friend and I started going to the Boundary Waters. The Campsites are pretty devoid of fallen branches and limbs, but sticks, twigs and pinecones abound and this stove consumes that stuff so you can cook and boil water in no time. Not to mention it's small size and light weight.

  4. Simple solid functional 5 Star Review

Posted by on Jan 28th 2022

I bought this little stove after it was Recommended by Ray Mears (a Bushcraft expert in the UK) he recommended the Little Bug Junior for its compact, simple and rugid construction also you can fit it all inside a Billy can along with the Tragia burner. Easy to assemble. I'll be using it this weekend for the first time hiking with my buddies.
Great shipping service as well thanks.

  5. Simple, effective 5 Star Review

I have the Junior version and love it. Packs easier than anything else I've used and works great. Well worth the money.

  6. Versatile, packable 5 Star Review

Love this. It's that thing that actually is all its cracked up to be!

  7. Better than any other wood burner on the market 5 Star Review

Posted by on Jan 25th 2021

I really like the fact that it weighs so little and assembles quickly. Anyone want to buy my highly rated stainless steel folds flat clunker?

  8. Best twig stove I've seen. 5 Star Review

Posted by on Dec 2nd 2019

In the outback, gear should be rock solid reliable. So far, in my experience, that means KISS, Keep It Simple, Sweetheart. Murphy's Law says that "Though leakproof tanks do, moving parts don't." Littlbug has fugured this out, and has designed a reliable piece of gear.

I carry mine as primary cooking source sometimes, and ALWAYS have it along as a backup cooking source, and for small camfires. I've given them as gifts to two other outdoirsmen, and recommended it to another. When the day is done - they work. Period.

  9. Over 100 days and still going strong 5 Star Review

Posted by on Dec 6th 2018

I couldn't be happier with my Littlbug Jr. I've got over 100 days and nights of cooking over this stove and it's never disappointed. A friend recently offered me a free Solo Stove but after looking it over and comparing it to my well worn Littlbug I passed. I don't know that it's possible to beat the Littlbug in terms of simplicity and design.

  10. A great little stove! 5 Star Review

Posted by on Aug 14th 2018

The Little Bug Junior is lightweight, very easy to store, assembles quickly, and with our Solo Stove, boils water in 7 minutes or less even on a windy day. We couldn't ask for anything more!
